Install Models and Reports Overview

During the AMSI Evolution Suite installation process, a data source, data models, and report template files are copied to the eSite Custom directory (for example, C://AmsiWeb/eSiteWeb/Custom). You will be able to use these files as the basis for your own eSite reports.

Later, in eSite, use the Installing Models and Reports feature to establish a connection between your Web server and your SSRS server so you can run the sample reports provided by AMSI, and create your own reports or edit existing sample reports using Report Builder. You can also overwrite existing models and reports for maintenance purposes.

Report Files in the eSite Custom Directory

Eight report templates and their supporting data source and data models are installed in your eSite Custom directory during the installation process.

Data Source

The Data Source (.ds) file contains information about the data available in the database and the relationships between that data. The eSite.ds file is installed in the eSite Custom directory

Data Model

A Data Model (.smdl) file is associated with a data source. Each data model contains a set of defined fields which can be dragged and dropped onto a new report in Report Builder.

For each report template, a corresponding data model is installed in the eSite Custom directory. For example, the file eSite Building Data.smdl is the data model for use with the Building Data report template.

Sample Report Templates

Sample report (.rdl) files are the templates you can use as a starting point for creating new user-designed reports. Each template is associated with a report data model. Using Report Builder, you will select a template and then select eSite data fields for the report from the associated data model.

The following table describes the report templates that are installed in the eSite Custom directory.

The data source for each of these reports is eSite.ds.
