Migrate Data

Make the following menu selections to display the Migrate Data page:

eService—Migrate Data

Use this menu item to migrate eService Inventory to the new Inventory module, when you have used eService previously. This process is done once for a database, and is irreversible.

CAUTION: System administrators who set up your system may be best suited to make the decision to run the Migrate Data process. Please contact your system administrator for help with this decision, if needed.

About the Migrate Data Process

Running this Migrate Data process prepares the system to use the Inventory module, which is new as of version 10.2.

• Data related to Inventory is moved from the eService database to the Inventory tables in the eFinancials database.
• Menu items in eService for Inventory locations are removed as well as related permissions.

Please backup your eService and eFinancials databases prior to running this process.

CAUTION: This process cannot be undone!

NOTE that until the Migrate Data process has been performed, the only menu options available in eService are Migrate Data and About.

Procedure

To Run the Migrate Data Process for eService

1. From the eService menu, select Migrate Data.
   
   NOTE that if you do not see the Migrate Data menu item, this process does not need to be run. Instead, you will see an ordinary eService menu, based on your permissions.
   
   
2. (Required) Back up the eService database.
3. (Required) Back up the eFinancials database.
4. Once the databases have been backed up, click Process.
5. The process runs and the Migrate Inventory Data Results report prints in .PDF format.
