Transmitter Prerequisites 1099 Processing

Use transmitters to create an association that reports 1099 information. You need to create an association between a transmitter and one or more companies/federal tax identification numbers. To create the association, add at least one transmitter control code that associates to one or more companies/federal tax identification numbers.

When reporting occurs, the reporting for each company/federal tax identification is consolidated into one XML file. GEMM uses this XML file to create a single 1099 report, which is submitted under the transmitter control code.

ClosedTransmitter

Use the Transmitter Tab to set up a transmitter and transmitter control code. For more information, refer to Transmitter Overview.

ClosedCompany

Use the Companies TabCompany menu item to set up one or more company/payer associations to store the federal tax identification and payer information. On the 1099 Payer Tab, select the transmitter that is to report the 1099 data for this company, and the 1099 property group for the properties that report under this federal tax identification.

ClosedSingle or Multiple Tax Associations

For a single tax association, set up one transmitter control code, and then set up a company record that is virtually identical to the transmitter record. Associate the company to the transmitter and the 1099 property group.

For multiple tax associations, set up one transmitter control code, and then set up company records—each with its own federal tax identification, and then select the same transmitter control code on each company record.
