        Periods Overview
        Accounting periods define the general ledger accounting 
 period for transactions. Accounting periods for each Fiscal Year, are set up in Fiscal 
 Year setup. Refer to Calendars Overview for details.

            Once you have set up your periods and submitted the setup data, be very 
 cautious about editing the fields in the periods file. Any changes you 
 make can have a significant impact on your system and how it operates. Refer to Calendars Overview for additional details.
         
         Period Status and Start/End Dates
Period Status and Start/End Dates
        
        
            You can check the status and start/end dates of your accounting periods on the setup Periods page. If the 
 Active box is checked, the period is active. If the box is unchecked, the period 
 is inactive.
 
            You can also run the Calendar List Detail report, which is on the Setup Reports submenu under Reports 
 in the menu. The report shows period start and end dates.

            Setup—Policies—Global Policies—Month End 
 Tab
            The option Number of days grace 
 for posting to prior month in the G/L affects the default number 
 of days that both the current period and the prior period can be open. 
 
            The option Future accounting 
 periods are active must be selected to enable the addition of future 
 periods.
