Global Comment Setup

Make the following selections from the eSite menu to display this page:

Setup—Global—Global Comment

Use the Global Comment page to add comments to the eSite Global Comment snap-in.

About the Global Comment Snap-in

The Global Comments snap-in is available so that you can display, on your Dashboard, information of your choosing for any properties in your currently selected eSite database set.

PermissionsClosed  To add , edit, delete, and view the eSite Global Comments snap-in are granted in the System module (System —Security—Users—(select user)—eSite—Dashboard Snap-ins—Global Comment).

About Global Comment Setup

Use Global Comment Setup to add free-form content (text or images) that will then appear in the eSite Global Comment snap-in on your eSite or Home Dashboard—as long as you have selected to add the snap-in to one or both Dashboards.

NOTE that for this snap-in, comments display for the properties in your current eSite Database set. When you switch database sets, any Global Comments for the properties in the new database set then display in the Global Comments snap-in.

As with all Dashboard snap-ins, creating Global Comments for an eSite database set is optional. Displaying Global Comments on the Dashboard is also optional. Comments can be added to and displayed for any eSite database set—or edited—as needed.

Use the Design editor to add or edit what displays in the Global Comments snap-in for the currently selected database set. To add comments using HTML, use the HTML editor instead of the Design editor.

  1. From the eSite menu, select eSite—Setup—Global—Global Comment.
  2. On the Global Comment Tab, use the editor to add or edit text. Notice that the editor is similar to a word processing editor, with the usual Closedtools available.

    To identify the tools, place the mouse over icons on the toolbar and view the tool tips. The Copy, Paste, Cut, Undo, and Redo, functions do not have icons, but can be replicated using keyboard shortcuts:

    Copy = Ctrl+C

    Cut = Ctrl+X

    Paste = Ctrl+V

    Undo = Ctrl+Z

     

  3. Click Save. The eSite Dashboard loads.
  4. If necessary, click the Add Snap-in link (upper right corner) to add the eSite Global Comments snap-in to the Dashboard.
  5. View the eSite Global Comments snap-in to verify that your additions or changes appear.

You can add this snap-in to the eSite tab and/or the Home tab.

Use the HTML editor to add or edit what displays in the Global Comments snap-in for the currently selected property. To add comments without using HTML, use the Design Editor instead of the HTML editor.

  1. From the eSite menu, select eSite—Setup—Global—Global Comment.
  2. On the Global Comment Tab, click HTML View HTML Button Property Comments to switch to the HTML editor.
  3. Add or edit content using the HTML editor. When done, click Update.
  4. Click Save. The eSite Dashboard loads.
  5. If necessary, click the Add Snap-in link (upper right corner) to add the eSite Global Comments snap-in to the Dashboard.
  6. View the eSite Global Comments snap-in to verify that your additions or changes appear.

You can add this snap-in to the eSite tab and/or the Home tab.

Use either editor (Design or HTML) to add or edit what displays in the Global Comments snap-in for the currently selected property.

  1. From the eSite menu, select eSite—Setup—Global—Global Comment.
  2. From the eSite Global Comment Tab, select any or all comments you want to delete in the editor and press the Delete key.
  3. Click Save. The eSite Dashboard loads.
  4. If necessary, click the Add Snap-in link (upper right corner) to add the eSite Global Comments snap-in to the Dashboard .
  5. View the eSite Global Comments snap-in to verify your deletions.

You can add this snap-in to the eSite tab and/or the Home tab.
