This report checks the accuracy of the entry of your debits and credits. The trial balance is said to be in balance when debits equal credits.

The report displays the account number, account description, beginning balance, debits, credits, and ending balance for the selected period range.

NOTE that when an account has both Credit and Debit transactions, the Display Net Amounts option allows the report to print just the Net amount in the appropriate column (Debit or Credit), rather than the Debits in one column and the Credits in the other.

Examples

• Debits are 1000, Credits are 500.
• The report currently prints 1000 in the Debit column, 500 in the Credit column.
• Selecting this option prints 500 in the Debit column and 0 in the Credit column.

• If Debits are 1250 and Credits are 2000 then selecting the option would print 0 in the Debit column and 750 in the Credit column.

An optional selection parameter Include YTD allows you to also include beginning balance, debits, credits, and ending balance for the year to date range from period 1 to the ending period selected.

The report also reflects all journal transactions, both posted and active, as well as approved journal entries.

An optional selection parameter allows you to include unapproved transactions.

NOTE that before generating this report, you must have set up report formats.

1. From the eFinancials menu, select Reports—GL Reports—Trial Balance Tab.
2. Click Select EntitiesCompanies. Select the EntitiesCompanies for which you want to print the report and click Save.
3. In the Fiscal Year field, type the year for the report (for example, 2015).
4. In the FromPeriod field, type the starting period for the report date range (for example, 2).
5. In the Thru Period field, type the ending period for the report date range (for example, 4).
6. In the Report Format drop-down list, select a format.
7. (Optional) Select the Include YTD check box to print a year-to-date amounts on the report.
8. (Optional) Select the Display Net Amounts check box when you want to print net amounts only when an account happens to have both types of transactions (Debit or Credit), rather than the Debits in one column and the Credits in the other. For more information, refer to the example under Report Description, above.
9. (Optional) Select the Include Unapproved Transactions check box to include unapproved transactions on the report.
10. Select one of the following report printing options:
• PDF Format: Print the report in PDF format for use in a PDF viewer, such as Acrobat.
• Create Spreadsheet: Prints the report in an Excel spreadsheet.
11. Click Print. If you selected Create Spreadsheet, you are prompted to open or save the report Excel file. Otherwise, the report opens in PDF format.
