Renters Insurance

This tab appears when you click the Insurance icon from the Insurance Occupants List, accessed from Application/Move-In or Lease Changes, and then perform the following steps to complete a Renters Insurance application:

  1. Click the Add Insurance button.
  2. Select the Agency code for Renters Insurance.
  3. Use the Fields list to complete the fields and click Save.

NoteNote

For residents that set up with non-BBC policies who have an expired lease but no Move-Out Date, the system submits a blank Move-out Date when there is no Move-out Date or Expected Move-out Date, and the resident will stay on Renters Insurance Report until the user manually enters a Move-out date on the Renters Insurance website.

ClosedSubmitting a Renters Insurance Application

After completing the Renters Insurance application form and printing the lease addendum for the renter’s insurance application, you submit the application through eSite.

NoteNote

Before you submit the application, we strongly suggest you have the applicant sign the lease addendum for the renter’s insurance application.

When you click the button to submit the application through eSite, the system forwards the application data electronically to the Post New URL Web site. After the insurance agency approves the application, the following cycle takes place:

  1. The insurance agency returns to the leasing agent a confirmation number (this is the policy number for the Renter’s Insurance). You can print this number and provide it to the applicant and/or file it in their resident folder.
  2. The insurance agency sends the policy directly to the insured resident.
  3. The billing cycle is initiated per the payment method selected in on the application form.

NoteNote

After the initial policy is submitted and issued by the insurance agency, any changes you make in eSite ARE NOT submitted to the insurance agency. To request changes to a policy, contact the insurance agency directly to request that the changes be made to the master policy and the modified policy be reissued to the resident. For information about canceling a policy, refer to Canceling a Renters Insurance Policy.
