Add Fiscal Year

Click this button to add a new Fiscal Year.  Refer to procedures for instructions on how to add/edit/delete a year.

Fiscal Year

The identification of the Fiscal Year. For example, 2013.

Delete

Use the Delete button to delete a Fiscal Year. Refer to the delete instructions later in this topic.

Note

Be very cautious about deleting a Fiscal Year. Any changes you make can have a significant impact on your system and how it operates.

Note

The field that appears after you click the Add Fiscal Years button depends on whether you are setting up the first Fiscal Year for a Calendar or subsequent Fiscal Years for the Calendar.

Complete the field that appears, click Save, and then select this new Fiscal Year from the Fiscal Years grid to complete the Fiscal Year setup. Refer to the Edit Fiscal Year Fields list for more information.

To set up the first Fiscal Year for a Calendar this field appears:

Starting Fiscal Year

The default is the current year. Accept the default or click in the field and enter another year.

To set up subsequent Fiscal Years for a Calendar, this field appears:

 Select Fiscal Year to Create

The default is Next Fiscal Year (YYYY). Accept the default or select Previous Fiscal Year (YYYY) from the drop-down list. These are the only options available.

Fiscal Year

The display-only year associated with the fiscal year. This year was entered on the Fiscal Year grid.

Last Day of Previous Fiscal Year

The last day of the previous Fiscal Year. This appears only if there is a Fiscal Year set up for the previous year.

Period

The display-only period number of the accounting periods in the Fiscal year. The system completes this field.

Start Date (1-13)

The starting date of each accounting period in the Fiscal Year. The system fills in the dates, which mirror the previous year, if any. The only editable start date is for Period 1. You can edit this date by clicking in the field and selecting a date from the electronic calendar that displays.

Note

The day prior to each Start Date is the closing date for transactions entered in the previous month. This date determines when you need to run the accounting month end (AME) process for the property.

End Date (1-13)

The ending date of each accounting period in the Fiscal Year. The system fills in the End Dates based on the date in the Start Date field. You can edit this date by clicking in the field and selecting a date from the electronic calendar that displays. The next period's Start Date automatically adjusts based on your edits. For example, if you change the End Date from 01/31/2013 to 01/30/2013, then the Start Date for the next period changes from 02/01/2013 to 01/31/2013.

First Transaction/Last Transaction

Displays the first and last date of any transactions in the period. If none exist, then this is blank.

First Day of Next Fiscal Year

The display-only date of the first day of the next fiscal year. This field only appears if a Fiscal Calendar has been created for the next year. The date automatically adjusts if you change the End Date of the last period of the Fiscal Year. For example, if you change the End Date of the last Period from 12/31/2013 to 12/30/2013, then the Start Date for the next period changes from 01/01/2014 to 12/31/2013.
