The following defines some terminology used in the Job Cost module.
Cost
A Cost represents a subdivision of a Job or a Phase that defines a specific Cost Activity. An example of some Cost Activities within the foundation Phase of an office building might be masonry, concrete, and equipment rental. The Cost codes for these activities might be 100100, 100200, and 100300, respectively.
If you do not already have a cost code numbering system, you can set up your own system or consult your industry association for a guide.
Cost Type
A Cost Type categorizes a Cost incurred for a job as a specific type; for example, administrative, equipment, labor, material, subcontractor, or other. A Cost Type can be a subdivision of the Job, Phase, or Cost.
